Discovering the United States: The Constitution & How Our Country Began
In this exciting and interactive class, students will explore how the United States was formed and why the Constitution is one of the most important documents in American history.
Through stories, discussions, and hands-on activities, students will learn:
Why the colonies wanted independence
What the Constitution says and why it was created
The three branches of government and how they share power
What the Bill of Rights is and how it protects our freedoms
How the Constitution still affects our lives today
Younger students will focus on key ideas like rules, fairness, and leadership, while older students will dig deeper into debates between the Founding Fathers and the structure of government.
By the end of the class, students will understand how the United States was formed, why the Constitution matters, and how they are part of the ongoing story of American democracy.
